A Heart Beyond the Rift

A woman says every day in her own world is the same dull day, until she crosses into a sea that has stayed shut for a thousand years. The man there tells her she is the first to come looking for him, and the welcome turns sexual inside his barrier. Her body then starts rejecting that world. A fire-aligned voice and an ice-aligned doctor argue over who can keep her alive. The doctor says he has already broken every rule he kept, and that she is his one exception.
