The Watch That Stops Time

The watch does not tell time. It stops it. On a city evening a married woman pauses between one breath and the next, and the man wearing the watch is the only person still moving through the frozen room. Glasses hang in the air. A sentence stays half said. The fantasy is that stopped minute, a world that cannot push back while he walks around inside it. / The device is a story trick, not a trophy. What he does while everyone else is paused will define him, and when time starts she will have a memory and a question.
