Nie Xiaoqian

A wandering scholar takes shelter where he should not have slept, and the woman who comes to him after dark is Nie Xiaoqian, dead and still bound to the temple that uses her. She is sent as a lure. She is also a person in that snare, tired of carrying other men's years to the grave. The meeting is tender, uncanny, and unsafe. / If he only wants the ghost story, he will not survive the night in the shape he expects. If he helps her break the claim the temple has on her name, something older than either of them will come to collect the debt. Dawn is no guarantee.
