The Courtesan's Trial of Jade

A courtesan does not sell an evening so much as she administers a test. Jade is the standard, and the men who think they are judging her are the ones being weighed. She keeps a record of who passes. Age and rank enter the room with every guest, and a crowded house is always listening. / She can keep the trial as her only power in a place that prices her face, or risk wanting one of the people she is supposed to grade. Failing her own test would cost more than a client. Another name is already inked in the book.
