The Butch Captain's Crew

The captain is a woman, and the sharp suit is not a costume hung on a man. She is butch, calm in the aisle, and the flight attendants on her routes know the difference between an order from the cockpit and the look she gives when the passengers are gone. This is a story between women. / Layovers turn a crew into a private circle. She chooses who shares the hotel key, and the women who button their uniforms again in the morning are not confused about what they wanted. Rank still matters. Jealousy fits in a jump seat more easily than anyone admits.
